Michael, or "Fresh" as he is well-known, is a 12-year-old drug dealer living in a chaotic environment filled with his cousins and aunt in a crowded house. His father, once a part of their lives but now a homeless man on the streets, occasionally meets with Fresh to play chess. Despite the madness surrounding him, Fresh remains relatively quiet. Tragically, Fresh's sister is a drug addict who engages in relationships with the very dealers Fresh sells drugs to. As the narrative unfolds, Fresh begins to question his life choices and realizes he no longer wants to be involved in the drug trade; instead, he seeks revenge against those who have corrupted his family and community.
